Acting Classes

The Spring Semester Class 2024 will consist of acting classes each week, and will be broken down into three age groups: 6-9, 10-13 & 14-18. Our guest instructor for the semester will be Wallace Rakoczy. An original SLT Academy member and a CAP 21 Graduate, formerly associated with NYU, Wallace   is thrilled to use her 15+ years of childcare and training to help budding artists hone in on their acting craft. She is firm in her belief that training artistically must come from a healthy and truthful foundation which fosters the comfortability to make daring new creations. Having performed Off Broadway and trained with excellent mentors such as Rob Rokicki, writer and creator of Lightning Thief the Musical, Larry Arancio, Lady Gaga’s personal acting coach, Ann Dowd from The Leftovers, Handmaids Tale, Girls, and many others, Wallace has created an “actors toolbox” of techniques that are applicable to life skills as well as in artistry. Class enrollment will be
capped at 10 students per class. Scholarships are available and are awarded based on need. For scholarship information, or if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at sltacademy@gmail.com or sltacoordinator@gmail.com

Parent Testimony:
"If your kiddo is interested in acting/theater, I highly recommend signing them up for the SLTAcademy acting classes. Max has flourished and found his 2nd home at Shreveport Little Theater. Laura Beeman Nugent, Nathan Gay, Kelly Berne, and all of the senior academy students who work with the junior students day in and day out are truly amazing and such a wonderful gift to our community. Here the focus is on progress not perfection. They want all the kids to be themselves and have fun putting on incredibly entertaining stage productions. They don’t try to force anyone to be someone they are not; everyone has a place here." ~Nicole
